Cross Country State Meet Takes Place in Sioux Falls on Saturday

All three classes will meet at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls on Saturday for the 2023 state Cross Country meet.

Pierre

The Governors will run both teams in the AA meets with the boys running first at 12:00 and the girls at 1:30. One runner for the Governors, Jared Lutmer, has had the best time in all of AA and is a favorite to win the individual state title. Jim Keyes, head coach of the Pierre boys team says he deserves this opportunity…

Keyes says this is a good course for Lutmer and the Governors…

Sully Buttes

The Sully Buttes Chargers will have two runners at this year’s race with freshman Jonas Olson running in the boys race and sophomore Myli Weischedel in the girls race.

Stanley County

The Stanley County Buffaloes will also have two runners at the Class A state run. Juniors Kaysen Magee and Spencer Sargent both will be running in this year’s state meet.

Miller

The Miller Rustlers will be having its complete boys team running in the Class A meet while Madeline Nye and Gracie Werdel will both run in the girls race.

Highmore-Harrold

The Highmore-Harrold Pirates will have a full boys roster running in the Class B state run while the girls will have April Fallis, Autumn Fallis and Jaylynn Knox running on the girls side.

Jones County

The Jones County Coyotes won’t have any runners on the boys side, but will have a full team on the girls side led by seniors Sophie Dowling and Addison Kierl.

Lyman

The Lyman Raiders will take three runners to the state meet as senior Anne Brakke will be the lone girls runner while juniors Askel Ehlers and Mason Ryan will be running for the boys side.

Potter County

Both the boys and girls team for the Potter County Battlers will be running at full force on Saturday as both sides have eyes on a team state title.
