Even at 3-5, the Sully Buttes Chargers received a top eight spot in the 9B standings and will be the seven seed to take on the 3-5 Kadoka Area Kougars in the first round of the playoffs.
The record along with the seed shows how difficult a schedule Sully Buttes had in 2023. Most teams who finish below .500 won’t be hosting a playoff game, but the Chargers played five of its eight games against teams with a .750 winning percentage or above. Tonight the Chargers host the Kougars who are also 3-5 and the 10 seed in 9B. Both teams faced 9A Lyman this year with the Kougars falling in overtime to the Raiders while the Chargers were able to get a 50-20 win over Lyman.
