Even though the Pierre Governors and Tea Area Titans have met in each of the last two years and three of the last four, tonight the Govs will travel and play in Tea for the first time.
The two teams were scheduled to play in 2020, the final year before the Titans jumped from Class 11A to 11AA. Since, the two teams have met in the state championship in both 2021 and 2022 and Pierre having won every matchup. Tonight, in Tea, the Govs are still fighting for a top two spot and are in need of a win with Yankton being able to win out and possibly be the top overall seed. Tea Area comes in at 5-2 after going out west the last two weeks and stomping both Sturgis and Spearfish. Steve Steele head coach of the Pierre Governors says not much has changed for Tea over the last couple of years except for personnel…
Steele says when you play a team like Tea it’s an assignment type game stopping the run…
Steele lays out keys to help get the win tonight…
The Governors and Tea Area Titans will have kickoff at 7:00 from Tea. Coverage will begin at 6:30 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
