Rapid City Man Arrested Friday After Recklessly Driving Through Pierre, Fort Pierre

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Rapid City man is arrested Friday after recklessly driving through Pierre and Fort Pierre. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were alerted Friday afternoon around 3:45 pm of a vehicle driving in a reckless manner in the 1100 block of Woodriver Drive in Pierre. Pelle says the subject, later identified as 24 year-old Kale Kersteins of Rapid City was reported by witnesses to be driving at an excessive speed on city streets and striking a mailbox. Kersteins then drove over the John Waldron Bridge to Fort Pierre, striking numerous construction cones before turning around and returning to Pierre. Kersteins then drove back over the bridge to Fort Pierre where Pierre police and a Stanley County deputy stopped the vehicle. An investigation indicated Kersteins had been consuming alcohol and was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Kersteins was arrested on charges of First Offense D-U-I, Driving on a Suspended License, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Insurance, Open Container, Hit and Run and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
