With the scored tied at 14 apiece going into halftime, the Sully Buttes Chargers came out and found the rhythm they’ve been seeking all season, by rushing and passing over the Lyman Raiders 50-20 Friday night in Onida.
Junior back Gavin Barber tallied five touchdowns and 211 yards rushing while sophomore quarterback Wesley Wittler came alive in the passing department by finding senior Logan Severson twice on passes of five yards apiece to help pace Sully Buttes offensively.
The Raiders started strong with a Rory McManus 53 yard run for a score on the third play of the game, and scores from junior QB Brayden Oldenkamp, one passing and one rushing, but that was all the Raiders could muster. Muffed snaps from center and two fumbles did in the Raiders and with time running down, both teams subbed out starters to complete the game.
Next up for 3-4 Sully Buttes is a road trip to Corsica to take on the 5-2 Corsica Stickney Jaguars, while the 5-2 Raiders will travel to Lemmon to take on the Lemmon/McIntosh Cowboys.
