Governors Shutout Huron, Back in Win Column

The Pierre Governors would shutout the Huron Tigers on Friday with a 35-0 win behind two Cade Kaiser to Jett Zabel passing touchdowns.

The Governors would stop the Tigers inside the ten yard line in the first drive and then proceed to take the ball 94 yards on 18 plays with Brock Moser scoring from three yards out to give Pierre a 7-0 lead. Kaiser would find Zabel for an 83 yard receiving touchdown to put Pierre up 14-0 before Trey Lewis would score the first of his two touchdowns on an 11 yard run. In the second half, Lewis would bobble a punt before picking it up and shedding tacklers to take it to the house for a 74 yard punt return. Kaiser and Zabel would cap off the night offensively with a 19 yard throw and catch to start the running clock midway through the third quarter.

Kaiser would finish 10-16 for 159 yards and two touchdowns while Zabel had four grabs for 113 yards and two scores. Overall the Pierre offense out-gained Huron 368-170. Spencer Skjonsberg would have an interception to end the first half.

The Governors are now 6-1 on the season and will travel to Tea on Friday to face the Titans in a rematch of the last two state championship games. Coverage begins at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
