Taylor’s Hat Trick Leads Governors to Quarterfinals

Gracelyn Taylor in just her second game back after a leg injury would score a hat trick to help lead the Governor girls into a 5-2 win over Jefferson in the first round of the playoffs.

The Governors would score just 38 seconds into the game with Ryann Barry’s corner kick which was redirected off of Taylor’s foot. Lexie Hilmer would take a feed off Katelyn Taylor to make it 2-0. However, Mackenzie Nelson would score on a corner kick to make it 2-1 at the half and put the Governors on their heals. But, Natalie Flottmeyer would score early on in the second half to give Pierre the 3-1 lead and then Taylor would finish off the final two goals with the game at 3-2 to secure the win for the Govs winning 5-2. Ryann Barry would assist on three of the five goals. Emlyn Swanson made seven saves in net.

The Pierre Governor boys would be shutout 8-0 to Lincoln Tuesday afternoon as the season comes to an end. Pierre finishes the year at 3-8-3.

The Governors will play in the second round on Saturday. Game time is still yet to be determined.
