Pierre Tennis Begins Title Defense with State Tournament in Sioux Falls

The Pierre Governor tennis team is in Sioux Falls for the next two days as the Govs will compete at the Class A State Tournament looking to defend its title.

Pierre has had new faces over this year compared to last year’s team, but Jocelyn Corrales and Caitlin Ott return in doubles flight two as the duo won the flight three championship last year. Corrales also won the singles flight four championship last year and will be competing this time in the top flight. For the girls who are playing varsity for the first time this year, Megan Bauck, head coach of the Governors says the ESD was helpful to see how a state tournament is like playing over two days…

The brackets are not finalized until Sunday evening and Bauck says it helps to wait so long to see the first round opponent, to help prepare for the tournament as a whole…

You can see a full list of the brackets below. The day begins at 8:00 AM in Sioux Falls.
