The senior tandem of running backs Ryker Peterson and Layton Terkildsen combined for 267 yards rushing and six touchdowns as the undefeated Philip Scotties downed Kadoka Area 56-6 Friday night to spoil the Kougars homecoming finale.
Philip is now 6-0 on the year in Class 9A and also blended in the passing of fellow senior Lane Kuchenbecker, who finished with 112 yards passing and 73 yards with a touchdown rushing to help seal Kadoka Area’s fate.
The continuous clock was enacted after halftime, and the Kougars scored their only points on an onside kick and recovery, combined with a 19 yard pass and score to avoid the shutout. Philip was able to sub down for varsity field experience for younger players, but ended it at the 6:40 mark of the third quarter.
The undefeated Scotties now have two home games remaining on their schedule, winless Newell October 6th, and White River, now 3-3 on the season on October 13th. Next up for 1-5 Kadoka Area is at 1-5 Faith next week, and finish at home against winless New Underwood.
