Aberdeen Central Shutouts Pierre in Both Soccer Contests

The Pierre Governor soccer teams will head into the postseason being shutout in the final game of the year as the Governor girls would fall 1-0 and the boys 5-0.

In the girls contest, the Golden Eagles would be rewarded a penalty kick and score the long goal of the match and finish the regular season at 10-2. The Governor girls will finish at 8-4-1 and will await the opponent for the first round matchup on Tuesday. It will likely be either Jefferson or Roosevelt with the Roughriders still to play O’Gorman on Saturday.

The Governor boys would be blanked for a second straight contest falling 5-0 to the Golden Eagles. Pierre finishes the season at 3-7-3 and as long as Roosevelt doesn’t pull off the upset of O’Gorman on Saturday, the Govs will be the 16 seed in the playoffs looking for a second straight year of an historic upset over the top seed. Aberdeen Central is at 8-4 to close the regular season.

After games conclude and tallied on Saturday, brackets can be set and game times with locations will be announced. KCCR will have coverage of playoff soccer which begins on Tuesday.
