The Pierre Governor tennis team would wrap up the season as only the state tournament remains, finish eighth at the ESD in Pierre on Tuesday.
Bailey Jessen in singles flight four would be the lone competitor for the Govs to reach the consolation championship round with the other five flights being eliminated. Jessen would fall 8-5 and place sixth.
On the doubles side which was all played on Tuesday, doubles flight two of Jocelyn Corrales and Caitlin Ott would place third. After falling 10-3 in the semifinals, the duo responded with an 8-6 third place win to be the highest finishing flight for Pierre and the only doubles team to play in the third round.
Pierre would finish with a total of 35 points, eighth place in the tournament. However, all seven teams in front of them are Class AA schools and won’t see them at the Class A state tournament next week Monday and Tuesday. You can see a full list of the results below.
