With twelve service aces, the Sully Buttes Chargers overcame a slow start and came out with a four set victory over Potter County Tuesday night in Onida, by the scores of 17-25, 25-23, 25-14, 25-14.
Despite the dozen service aces the Chargers still had seven service errors, but with a new lineup Sully Buttes had solid net play and helped wrestle control to improve to 10-8 on the season. Potter County, rebuilding after a big graduating class, drops to 5-11 on the year.
This is the third time these two teams have played, and Sully Buttes came out 3-0 in the series. The last matchup before Tuesday night was Saturday in Faulkton for the CSDC Tournament.
Stevie Wittler showed her competitive skills with strong back line play, and timely hitting on the left side as she finished with nine kills. Madison Bradberry has worked her way into the starting lineup hitting front middle, and finished with eight kills and six blocks. Five of the dozen service aces came from sophomore Berkley Birney, the team setter.
For Potter County, senior Kadyn Cronin was once again solid at the net and finished with nine kills while junior Zoe Meinke added six.
The schedule does not slow down for the Chargers as they get back to the court in Philip Thursday night, a Monday match in Timber Lake and finish with a Tuesday game at home against Highmore-Harrold before getting a week off.
Potter County is at Hoven Thursday to take on Ipswich and Saturday in Redfield for the Redfield Classic with eight other teams including top ranked Warner.
