Governors Host Huron in Final Regular Season Home Game

Governors Host Huron in Final Regular Season Home Game

The soccer season is into its last week of the year with the playoffs beginning next week Tuesday. The Pierre Governors host the Huron Tigers in the final home game of the year.

The Govs still have another game to play after tonight’s contest as the makeup date with Aberdeen Central is scheduled for Thursday in Aberdeen. For the girls, that game will be all important, tonight’s game is all important to win and come out healthy. The Governor girls are in seventh place and face a Huron team who has struggled to score and win games in the recent years. Huron is at 0-10 on the season and has yet to score a goal. However, with the team out of the playoff picture and nothing to lose, Pierre has to be ready for anything.

On the boys side, Huron has gone from the top seed last year, to not hosting a first round playoff game this year. The Tigers are 3-6-2 and this becomes an all-important game to win as the Govs don’t want to drop to be a 16 seed. Pierre isn’t in any danger of falling out of the playoffs, but the last two wins can jump them up the standings for a more favorable first round matchup.

The girls will play first at 4:00 this afternoon with coverage beginning at 3:40 and then the boys game to follow. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Mendel Miller on the call.
