Study Committee Looking Into Long-Term Care Meets In Pierre Monday

PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Study Committee on Sustainable Models for Long-Term Care met Monday in Pierre. The group is looking at ways the Legislature can address the issues nursing homes and long-term care facilities are dealing with across the state. Tammy Hatting is Chief Operating Officer with the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations. She says the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a proposed three-art rule on staffing that could hit the long-term care industry hard…

Hatting says C-M-S is using Census data to define a communities size…

Another concern in the proposed rules are changes to the hour per resident day for registered nurses and certified nursing aids…

The Committee is scheduled to meet next in mid-October.
