Governors Host Jefferson with Three Games Remaining

The Pierre Governor soccer teams are down to its final three games of the season which includes another home game Saturday afternoon with the Jefferson Cavaliers in town.

The Governors are in need of more wins down the stretch starting with the girls team who is playing in the 8-9 matchup Saturday. With a win, the Govs will near solidify a home game in the first round of the playoffs. However, a loss to the Cavaliers will put the Govs in a spot where they potentially won’t be a top eight seed. Jefferson is 2-3-4 and outside of a 7-0 win over Huron, the Cavs have scored just six goals in eight games.

The Governor boys have moved up to 14th place in the AA standings but still want to get wins over the last three contests starting with the 6-2-1 Cavaliers. Jefferson has won its last two games including a 3-1 win over Tea Area on Tuesday. Pierre, at 3-4-3 are only 0.6 points away from jumping up to the ninth spot in the AA standings.

Kickoff of the girls game will be at 1:00 with the boys game to follow at 3:00 at the PILC Fields.
