Chargers Make Too Many Mistakes, Fall to Herreid/Selby Area

The young Sully Buttes Charger football team showed signs of progress, but in the end the experience of Herreid/Selby Area prevailed in a 28-0 victory Friday night in Selby.

The Chargers had a drive stopping fumble and interception that cost them points and field position. HSA led 14-0 at the half. The Wolverines used a hard hitting rushing attack in the second half to keep the ball away from Sully Buttes, and gained 284 total yards on the ground compared to the Chargers’ 130. Sophomore Houston Hauge(how-ge) rushed for 157 yards on 23 carries behind a veteran line that features two all staters at guard and tight end. For Sully Buttes, junior Gavin Barber once again was the workhorse, totaling 76 yards on 18 carries.

Herried Selby Area is now 4-2 and will travel to Northwestern to take on the winless Wildcats, while Sully Buttes at 2-4 will have a bye week to get ready for Lyman who is now 4-1, on October 6th.
