Governor Girls Shutout, Boys Defeat Mitchell

The Pierre Governor soccer teams would split its doubleheader on Saturday with the girls getting shutout 5-0 while the boys would win 4-2.

The Governor girls were stricken by one of the best players in the state as Mia Mullenmeister would score all five goals for the Mitchell Kernels as she continues to lead the Kernels in an undefeated season. The Govs have won once in its last five matches at 1-3-1.

The Governor boys were able to get two goals from Jacoby LaRoche and Caleb Morris in the 4-2 victory over the Kernels. Haley Fabel had nearly 10 saves as the Pierre boys are also 1-3-1 in its last five, but stops a streak of four straight winless matches.

The Governors will host Yankton on Tuesday in a girls and boys doubleheader. Kickoff of the boys game will be at 4:00 with the girls game to follow at 6:00 at the PILC Fields in Pierre.
