Governor Grocery Program Expanding To Serve More Students With Food Insecurities

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A project to make sure students stay fed in the Pierre School District is expanding. Pierre School Board member Dennis James says the growth is beyond just expanding services from Georgia Morse Middle School to T-F Riggs High School…

James says those 53 meals are delivered five days a week meaning the volunteers making the Gov Grocery Pantry work are taking 265 free meals a week to the students involved…

The program is getting good support from the community…

The Governor Grocery program is a student-run food pantry in where students with food shortages at home can pick from two breakfast, two lunch, two dinners and extra drinks and snacks to provide meals over the weekend during the school year.
