Down two sets to one after three, the Sully Buttes Chargers worked hard to take set four over Lyman by the final of 26-24, and held off the Raiders in the fifth set to take a five set victory 25-23, 17-25, 22-25, 26-24 and 15-10 Thursday night at the historic Lyman Gardens in Presho.
The Raiders were without starter Skyler Volmer, downed with a sprained ankle after the Philip Invitational this past weekend, and were done in by service errors, 16 total to the Chargers seven.
Court play by Stevie Wittler, whether it was from the back row or front right attack, spurred Sully Buttes to victory. Wittler finished with 11 kills while Trichelle White and Payge Bakker added six apiece.
The Raiders were led by Mak Scott finishing the night with 10 kills.
The 7-5 Chargers now face North Central Tuesday in Onida to start a busy run of matches in the next 12 days, while the 8-5 Raiders host Bennett County in a Saturday match.
