The Pierre Governor soccer teams will be looking for the offense to start back up again as both teams travel to Brookings to take on the Bobcats.
The Governors both went scoreless on Saturday against the Brandon Valley Lynx with the boys falling and the girls tying, but both are looking to put it behind them. The Governor boys, who will play first, will take on a 4-5 Brookings squad coming off a loss to one of the best teams in the state in the Lincoln Patriots. Lincoln won 5-0 and remain in second place in the AA standings. The Bobcats have some quality wins at 4-5, specifically over Aberdeen Central. However, in losses, scores indicate the wheels can fall off as only one loss has been a one goal game. If Pierre can jump out early on Brookings, the offense can potentially find its rhythm and score multiple goals.
The Governor girls are trying to get back on track after going winless in the last three contests. Brookings is at 2-7 on the year and dropped a 3-2 decision to Lincoln on Tuesday. Brookings’ two wins have come against Brandon Valley and Huron, both shutouts. However, the Bobcats have lost its last two matches and sit in 14th place in the AA standings. Pierre hasn’t scored in its last two games and want to get back on track against a team who has allowed 25 goals in its seven losses.
Kickoff of the boys game is scheduled for 4:00 with the girls game to follow at 6:00 at Fishback Soccer Complex in Brookings.
