UTV Crash Takes Life Of 18 Year-Old Man In Stanley County

FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Stanley County Sheriff’s Office says an 18 year-old man died last weekend in a U-T-V crash. Sheriff Brad Rathbun says 18 year-old Hayden Monson died at the scene. Monson was one of four males using the U-T-V at the time. The others involved are 18, 19 and 20 years-old. The crash was reported around 1:45 am Saturday, but the reporting party couldn’t give responders an accurate location. The scene was discovered around 3:25 am. Two of the men were transported to Avera St. Mary’s hospital in Pierre. One was flown to Avera McKennen hospital in Sioux Falls in critical condition. The third male was transported by private vehicle and released. Assisting Stanley County Law Enforcement at the scene were units from Fort Pierre Fire, Pierre Rescue and A-M-R Ambulance. The incident happened about a mile west of Fort Pierre.
