The Pierre Governors would go 9-9 on the offensive side of the ball scoring on every possession to beat the Mitchell Kernels handily 62-8 Friday night.
Pierre scored just barely two minutes into the game as Cooper Terwilliger would catch a five yard touchdown pass from Cade Kaiser, his first of three on the day for the freshman. The defense would force stop after stop along with a Lucas Chamberlain interception in the first half as the Govs would open up a 41-0 lead at halftime. Jett Zabel would add a touchdown reception, Brock Moser and Trey Lewis each with a touchdown run and the second string offense would score twice in the second half to reach the highest point total of the season. The Mitchell Kernels would score the first points against the Governor defense with about two minutes to play in the third quarter, the one and only score to this point against the defense.
Kaiser finished with 203 yards passing while Terwilliger had three catches, all for touchdowns and 76 yards receiving. Moser hit the century mark running with 110 yards on the night. Kaleb Lounsbury would have a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown to Carter Schiefelbein in the second half.
The Governors will meet the Yankton Bucks next Friday in Yankton in a battle of 3-0 teams. Coverage will begin at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
