Governors Can’t Find the Net as Boys Fall, Girls Tie

The Pierre Governor soccer teams were unable to score on Saturday in Brandon as the Brandon Valley boys would win 2-0 and the girls contest would end in a scoreless draw.

The Pierre boys didn’t have the scoring chances they would have liked to have against a solid Lynx squad, but Jacoby LaRoche, the leading goal scorer for the Governors went down with an injury early in the first half and did not return. The Pierre boys fall to 2-4-1 on the season.

The Governor girls went scoreless for the second straight game, but kept the defense tight not allowing Brandon Valley to score in its first tie of the season. After a 4-0 start to the season, the Governors have not won its last three matches and are 4-2-1 on the season.

Both Governor teams will look to find its offense on Thursday when they travel to Brookings to face the Bobcats. The boys will play first with kickoff at 4:00 and the girls will follow at 6:00 at Fishback Soccer Complex.
