Pierre Travels to Mitchell as Shutout Streak Continues

Two straight shutouts and the Pierre Governor football team will be looking for a third and a third straight win as they travel to Mitchell to face the Kernels tonight.

The Governors picked up a 32-0 win in the first week of the season over Aberdeen Central and then a 49-0 win over Brookings last Friday. The Governor defense is averaging less than 100 yards against through the first two games and they don’t look to slow down. The Mitchell Kernels are coming in at 0-2 after losing 42-0 to Yankton and 38-6 to Sturgis last week. Mitchell has failed to get its offense going over the first two games with first year head coach Pat Larson. Pierre realistically has a chance to start the season hanging three goose eggs on its opponents. Steve Steele head coach of the Pierre Governors says the defense needs to continue to take it a drive at a time…

Steele says the offense needs to keep building…

Steele says it’s key tonight for the defense to continue to tackle and fly to the football…

Coverage of the game tonight will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR sports starting at 6:30 and kickoff at 7:00 with Jon Winkler and Mendel Miller on the call.
