Both the Harrisburg girls and boys soccer teams would pick up wins over the Pierre Governors on Thursday as the Tigers boys picked up a 2-1 win and the girls a 3-0 decision.

In the boys game, a couple of unlucky breaks went into the back of the net in the first half as Ryan Beherend and Cooper Tietgen each would score late in the first half to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead. Early in the second half a foul inside the box resulted in the Govs getting a penalty kick. Steven Blanchette would take the PK and his shot would bounce directly off the keeper, however, Cayden Morris came flying in off the shot and put the rebound in to make it a 2-1 game. Harrisburg tightened up defensively and the Govs couldn’t find the equalizer and fall to 2-3-1 on the season.

The Harrisburg girls would waste no time getting a 1-0 lead as Hailee Christensen would score just 43 seconds into the game to set the pace for Harrisburg. Christensen would finish with two goals and also an assist on Madeline Scott’s goal for the Tigers who improve to 6-1 on the season. The Govs drop its second straight contest and are 4-2 on the year.

The Governors will take on Brandon Valley on the road on Saturday. Kickoff of the girls game will be at 12:00 and the boys game at 2:00 in Brandon.
