Highway Patrol Identifies Man Who Died After Exiting Moving Vehicle Near White River

WHITE RIVER, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the name of a man killed when he exited a vehicle driving near White River. The incident happened Saturday around 1:30 am. The preliminary investigation indicates 33 year-old Ty Dimond of Wood exited a 2016 Chevy Suburban that was traveling east on Rodeo Road in White River. Authorities don’t know why Dimond exited the vehicle while it was still moving. Dimond was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Suburban is 30 year-old Nicole Lee of Winner. She was not injured. According to the Wood Volunteer Fire Department Facebook page, Dimond was an active and valued member of the department, who fought numerous fires across Mellette County and surrounding communities. Visitation for Dimond is Thursday afternoon at the Wood Community Center. A funeral will be September 8th at the Wood Community Hall with full fire department services.
