Sully Buttes Defeats Ipswich in Three Sets

Homecoming Week started off on the right foot for the Sully Buttes Charger volleyball team, as they defeated the Ipswich Tigers by the scores of 25-23, 25-20 and 25-19 Tuesday night.

The back and forth games kept the pace tense, but it was the senior leadership of Stevie Wittler and Trichelle White that helped keep the Chargers focused on the task at hand. White had eight kills and solid net play, while Wittler contributed three kills, but helped control the back line to dig and pass the ball to the front line. Jaydn Jaeger added five aces in the match, with four coming in the final set.

Marley Guthmiller led the 1-3 Tigers in kills, and will host winless Sunshine Bible Academy Thursday then travel to the Mobridge/Pollock Invitational Saturday. The Chargers, now 4-3, will face big challenges at the Philip Invitational this weekend, and will return to dual action September 14th at home against Lyman.

You’ll be able to hear the Lyman match on Country 95.3FM, pierrecountry.com, and on YouTube at Country 95.3 Sports.
