Murdo, Oacoma Baggers Take Part In State Fair Competition

PIERRE, (KCCR) — The best grocery bagger in the state was determined at this year’s South Dakota State Fair. The South Dakota Best Bagger Competition took place Saturday. The event is hosted by the South Dakota Retailer’s Association. Executive Director Nathan Sanderson says this year’s winner, Elijah Schipper is now a back-to-back champ…

For Schipper, an employee of the Fareway Foods in Harrisburg, he’s ready for the big show…

Schipper gets 500-dollars cash for the win and an all-expenses paid trip to Las Vegas for the National Grocers Association National Championship where one-thousand dollars is up for grabs. Kristen Murray from Fair City Foods in Huron took second place and 200-dollars. Seven people took part in the competition. Also taking part in the event were Daniel Jones of Murdo Family Foods and Andrew Dixson of Buche Foods Oacoma. Jones and Dixson won 100-dollars for taking part. Each contestant must bag identical grocery orders that get judged on speed, bag building, uniform weight, personal attitude and appearance.
