Spearfish Shuts Out Girls, Boys Lose Close one as Spartans Sweep Govs

The Spearfish Spartan soccer teams would get two wins on Saturday beating both the boys and girls Pierre soccer clubs in Spearfish.

The Governor girls have dropped its first game of the season with a 1-0 shutout loss. Pierre has allowed just two goals all season, but are now 4-1 to begin the year. The offense which has been clicking through the first four games had its first and only set back of the season to this point. With Harrisburg on Thursday, Pierre will be looking to ignite the offense right back.

The Governor boys would drop a 2-1 decision to Spearfish. Javier Pretell Alegre would get the Govs lone goal of the contest. Pierre would called offside in the final 15 seconds which would have given the Govs a solid run at the goalie and a chance to tie it in the dying seconds. Haley Fabel, who left the game in the first half with an injury, returned in the second half and gutted out an impressive 15 save performance in goal to keep Pierre in the game throughout the afternoon. Pierre drops to 2-2-1 on the season.

The Governors will host Harrisburg on Thursday in two massive games. Coverage of the boys game will begin at 3:40 and kickoff at 4:00 with girls game to follow on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
