Governors Fall in Aberdeen for Loss of Season

The Pierre Governor volleyball team would take the first set win over Aberdeen Central, but fall in four sets on Saturday in the first loss of 2023.

The Governors would take the first set 25-20 and lead for the majority of the second set before falling 25-21. Pierre went down 5-0 quickly in the third set and could never tie or take the lead in the set falling 25-21 again and then the Golden Eagles closed out the match with a 25-17 fourth set win.

Aberdeen Central improves to 4-1 on the season and were led by senior Grace Kuch with 16 kills, the match high and freshman Lauryn Burckhard with 13 kills. Aberdeen Central had 12 blocks resulting in points and had seven service aces on the afternoon. Pierre on the other side were led by Reese Terwilliger and Abigail Kropp each having 11 kills. Pierre had 12 service aces but finished with 11 errors in the loss.
