Governors Host Brookings in Home Opener

The Pierre Governors will host the Brookings Bobcats tonight in the Governors home opener looking for a second straight win to start the season.

The two teams are coming in after similar games, but on the opposite ends. The Governors would shutout the Aberdeen Central Golden Eagles with a 32-0 win. The Bobcats were the team that was shutout last Friday in a 33-0 loss to the Watertown Arrows. Pierre will be the team hoping to continue the trend while the Bobcats will be trying to turn the page and start fresh. Steve Steele, head coach of the Pierre Governors says Brookings defense played well against Watertown despite the score…

While the Governors scored 32 points last week and didn’t allow a single score, the team is still looking to improve on both sides of the ball. Specifically, Steele says on the offensive side they need to finish plays better and finish through the whistle…

Steele says the line of scrimmage is where the game can be won tonight…

Pregame coverage will start at 6:30 with kickoff at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
