Traffic Over John Waldron Bridge To Use Westbound Lanes During Repair Work Next Week

PIERRE, (KCCR) — Traffic will go back to normal for a few days next week over the John C. Waldron Memorial Bridge. The South Dakota Department of Transportation says that starting Tuesday after the Labor Day weekend westbound traffic will be moved back over to the westbound lanes of the current bridge. The change is to allow for repair work to be done in the eastbound lanes. Eastbound traffic will continue as normal but may see some lane shifts to allow for the work to be done. The repairs should be completed by Thursday. Traffic will return to the two-way, head-to-head traffic that has been in place over the bridge since the start of the construction season. Motorist can expect some minor, short-lived delays during the traffic change. One thing that will not be changing is the 10-foot width restriction over the bridge. Oversized traffic will still need to use detours over the Oahe Dam to get from one side of the Missouri River to the other.
