Despite three of the four sets decided by five points or less, the Sully Buttes Chargers couldn’t get over the top, and fell to the veteran Faulkton Area Trojans by the finals of 25-20, 24-26, 25-12, and 25-22 Tuesday night in Onida.
The Trojans defense and attack offense kept Sully Buttes on their heels, but just when the set was thought to be decided, the Chargers held tough, and battled back to make it a tight contest.
Leading the way for the Chargers offensively was Trichelle White finishing with 10 kills with fellow senior Stevie Wittler adding six. The Trojans were led by Kelly Steckers’ 12 kills, and senior Addison Melius adding 10 for the 2-0 Trojans.
The 3-2 Chargers have another tough match Thursday night at home against Miller while Faulkton is at home against North Central. The Chargers match will be broadcast on Country 95.3FM, pierrecountry.com and on YouTube on Country 95.3 sports with DT Meyer on the call.
