Pierre Hosts Watertown as Girls Look to Remain Unbeaten

The Pierre Governor soccer teams return home today as they face the Watertown Arrows in an ESD contest with the boys playing first and the girls to follow.

The Governor boys are at 1-1-1 on the season after falling 3-1 to the Sturgis Scoopers last Thursday on the road as the young team looks to bounce back against Watertown. The Arrows are already 3-2 on the season even with a postponed game last week Tuesday. Watertown has wins over West Central 6-0 and Brookings 3-1 in its last two games and losses to both Rapid City Stevens and Yankton at 5-1 and 4-1.

The Governor girls are at 3-0 on the year and will look for fourth straight win against a Watertown team who are 2-3 so far to begin the season. Watertown has a 3-2 win over Yankton and just beat Brookings last Thursday 3-1. Pierre is one of five teams left in AA girls soccer who is unbeaten and only Mitchell and Stevens along with Pierre have won every game to this point in the season.

Coverage of the doubleheader will begin at 3:40 with kickoff of the boys game at 4:00 and the girls game will follow around 6:00. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Mendel Miller on the call.
