Bothun Wins Playoff, Governors Second in Aberdeen

It took seven playoff holes, but Nick Bothun would beat Jake Olson of Watertown in playoff holes as the Pierre Governor Golf team would place second in Aberdeen on Tuesday.

Bothun and Olson of Watertown would each go three under par on the day and have to go to seven different holes before determining a winner for the Hub City Invite. Bothun bogeyed hole nine but would birdie hole 7, 11, 12 and 16 to finish tied for first before winning the playoff. Sawyer Sonnenschein would place tied for seventh for Pierre at five over par 76 as Jack Bartlett and Luke Olson would tie for 11th at six over par 77 as the four rounded out the scoring. Lincoln Houska and Charlie Simpson would each shoot 10 over par 81 which was tied for 21st.

The Governor team would shoot a 298, 14 over par to place second in the team score. Watertown would have a four under par as a team at just 280.

The Governors will be off until next week Friday when they travel to Yankton.
