Stanley County Beats Number Two De Smet in Home Opener

The Stanley County Buffaloes would pick up a huge win over the number two team in the state in the De Smet Bulldogs with a 38-30 victory.

Even without star back, Colton Brady, Stanley County found ways to score and the next man up was used effectively. Barrett Schweitzer would score in the final second of the first half to give the Buffs a 26-16 lead at the break. Brandon Bothwell had the first score of the game from Broch Zeeb, but after a touchdown run by De Smet to give the Bulldogs an 8-6 lead, Bothwell would return the kickoff back for a touchdown to go up 12-8 and the Buffs would keep the Bulldogs behind the rest of the game.

Bothwell would catch another touchdown pass and Schweitzer would cap off the game with another touchdown run to make it 38-30 and pick up the win for the Buffs as they go to 2-0 for the first time since 2005.

Stanley County will look to improve to 3-0 on Friday with a road game against Dupree. Kickoff will be at 7:00.
