PIERRE, (KCCR) –Coffee drinkers can rejoice, at least for a few months. A major road and utility project in the 300 block of South Pawnee Street likely won’s start until next spring….
Staff Engineer Caleb Huizenga says contractors available to do the work of digging down to replace water infrastructure under the one block stretch of Pawnee and repave that block are simply not available to get the job done this year….
The 400 and 500 blocks of Pawnee are not included in the project. When the project starts it will have impacts for customers of Wells Fargo Bank and Scooter’s Coffee who use the 300 block of Pawnee for to get customers through the Scooter’s drive through and to the Wells Fargo A-T-M. Which ever contractor wins the bid will have to work with the businesses to discuss how to keep traffic flowing to them during the work.
