Highway 63 Rail Crossing Through Midland To Close For A Week In September

MIDLAND, (KCCR) — Work on the Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern Pierre to Rapid City subdivision in the Midland area will lead to the closure of a state highway for about a week. The South Dakota Department of Transportation will be closing the Midland railroad crossing on Highway 63 for a continued rail maintenance project. The closure is expected to last from 7 am on September 6th to the end of the day on September 12th, weather permitting. No through traffic will be allowed and those using Highway 63 are asked to use alternate routes during the closure. No designated detours have been established but signage will be placed on Highway 63 alerting of the closure. Signage will also be placed at strategic exits and interchanges along Interstate 90 to alert drivers of the detour and give them time to pick alternate routes of travel.
