KADOKA, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating another fatal crash on Interstate 90 in Jackson County. The crash took place on the interstate Monday afternoon around 12:45 pm, near mile marker 140, 12 miles west of Kadoka. The preliminary investigation of the crash indicates a 1996 Toyota Camry and 2004 Chevy Trailblazer were both traveling on the interstate when the Camry struck the rear of the Trailblazer. The impact caused the Trailblazer to enter the median and roll. The Camry ended up in the south ditch. The driver of the Camry, a 22 year-old male, was using a seat belt and taken to the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip with minor injuries. A 39 year-old female driving the Trailblazer was also taken to the Philip hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. A 35 year-old and seven year-old female passenger suffered life threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to Philip then Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City by air. An 11 year-old male passenger died. The names of those involved are being withheld pending notification of family. Nearly a month ago, a 31 year-old man was killed in an I-90 crash in Jackson County only 6 miles farther west than Monday’s crash.
