Tonight begins another high school football season and teams from across the state in 9-man and 11B cannot wait to get going. It’s no different for the Sully Buttes Chargers and Stanley County Buffaloes who play tonight in Onida.
The two teams are opening the season against each other for the second straight year after the Chargers picked up the win in Ft. Pierre last year, but since the Buffaloes have moved back down to 9-man football, the Chargers and Buffs have split the two matchups. Both teams are in similar situations coming into the year with a younger team, but bringing back a lot of experience. However, Broch Zeeb will return as the Buffs quarterback while Sully Buttes will go with a new QB after Landon Hepker graduated. Tom Moore, head coach of Sully Buttes says a good start is huge in the first game…
Moore says Sully Buttes needs to be the more physical team tonight to win…
Max Foth, head coach of Stanley County says it’s going to be a good game…
Foth says he believes the experience up front will help lead to a win…
Kickoff from Onida is at 7:00. DT Meyer will have the call on Country 95.3, pierrecountry.com and on YouTube at Country 95.3 Sports.
