The Jones County Coyotes will be traveling to Presho tonight to face the Lyman Raiders to open up the season in a 9B vs. 9A matchup.
The two teams opened the season in Murdo in 2022 and it was Lyman all over the Coyotes with a 58-8 win. Jones County lost just four players to graduation last season, but have just 12 men on the roster this season, one of the lowest you’ll see on any team this year.
Lyman would lose six to graduation last year on a team that went 9-2 and lost in the state semifinals to Gregory. But, star quarterback Teegan Gourneau was one of the six graduating seniors along with receiver Cooper Long. Lyman has picked up two big wins over Jones County over the last two seasons which included a 58-8 win last season.
Kickoff from Presho is scheduled for 7:00 tonight.
