PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man is arrested Tuesday for assaulting a police officer going to check on his condition. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were called out around 11-pm to the 600 block of North Euclid. Avenue for a report of a drunk man lying down in an alley. Arriving officers attempted to get the man, identified by police as 28 year-old Corbin Best, to his feet. As officers helped Best he headbutted an officer and resisted attempts by police to detain him. Officers struggled but did get Best into custody. He was taken to the Hughes County Jail and charged with Obstructing an Officer, Resisting Arrest and Simple Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.
