Governors Finish Second in First Tournament of Season

Three Pierre Governors would finish inside the top ten on Tuesday along with finishing in the top ten overall over the two days as Pierre finished in second over the two day tournament.

Pierre would score a 581 overall, only six shots behind Harrisburg who finished at just seven over par as a team with a total 575. O’Gorman and Watertown would finish third and fourth, 15 and 16 shots behind the Governors. Brandon Valley and Mitchell would tie for fifth in the team score with the Govs having a 36 shot separation.

Individually for Pierre on Tuesday, Nick Bothun and Sawyer Sonnenschein would each shot two under par at Bakker Crossing tying for fourth place, four shots back of Hayden Scott of Harrisburg and a shot behind Parker Schultz of Harrisburg and Kaden Rylance of Watertown. Both Sonnenschein and Bothun would each birdie three holes on Tuesday. Luke Olson would finish in ninth place at one under par for the Govs shooting a 70. Lincoln Houska would be three over par, 74, Jack Bartlett five over par, 76 and Charlie Simpson 15 over par, 86.

Overall, Olson would place third, four shots back of Scott for the individual tournament win as he finished one under par overall. Bothun would be tied for fifth at one over par for the tournament and Sonnenschein in eighth at three over par.

The Govs will travel back to Pierre and then out west to Rapid City to play at Meadowbrook Golf Course on Thursday. Tee time is scheduled for 9:00 AM Central Time.
