Trial Date Moved To January For Pierre Man Charged In Standoff Near Spring Creek

PIERRE, (KCCR) — A trial has been set for five days in January for a Pierre man facing multiple charges including Aggravated Assault against Law Enforcement for a standoff in March. A status hearing in the case of Henry Jacobson was held Monday afternoon in Pierre. Jacobson met with his attorney David Siebrasse after the hearing started to get clarification about the status of his case and whether he was willing to waive his right to a speedy trial, within 180 days of him being arrested. Siebrasse is waiting on a psychological review of Jacobson. Sixth Circuit Judge Bobbi Rank denied a motion by Assistant Attorney General Brent Kempema to return the personal firearms used by two U-S Marshal’s during the standoff. Kempema told Rank the state didn’t need the weapons as a part of their case. Siebrasse argued he may need those firearms in his case, and would like to have the weapons inspected to see if they had been converted to operate as a fully automatic weapon. He was also still looking for requested F-B-I federal use of force reports regarding the Marshal’s in the case saying quote “The Feds have a tendency to hide the ball.” The psychological review of Jacobson was expected in the next three weeks.
