Pierre Man Arrest Thursday For Attempting To Give Kids In Griffin Park Marijuana

PIERRE (KCCR) — A Pierre man is arrested Thursday for allegedly trying to get teenagers high on marijuana. Pierre Police Chief Jason Jones says officers were dispatched to Griffin Park along the Missouri River around 2:45 Thursday afternoon after receiving a report through the Text-to-911 system of an adult male attempting to give the youths marijuana. Upon arrival, officers discovered three juveniles between the ages of nine and 13. the text report indicated the youths appeared uncomfortable at the time. They told police they did not know the man who approached, but the attempted to have the children smoke from a pipe he was holding in front of their faces. Police identified the suspect as 51 year-old Robert Grandon of Pierre. Grandon was found with marijuana and multiple items of drug paraphernalia. Grandon was taken to the Hughes County Jail on charges of Distributing Marijuana to a Minor and three counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. The juveniles were assessed by E-M-T’s from A-M-R Ambulance and released to the custody of their parents.
