Post 8 15/16, 14U One Win from Semifinals

Both the Pierre Post 8 15/16 team would win on Friday and can now make the semifinals with a win on Saturday.

15/16

Pierre would knock off Sioux Falls 5-1 behind a complete game from Weston Northrup as Pierre has only had to use two pitchers through two games to set them up well heading into day three. Northrup allowed just one unearned run in the win throwing 88 pitches over seven innings. He had four hits, three walks and two strikeouts. Post 8 had a three run second to claim the lead and never look back as Parker O’Bryan would finish 2-3 with two RBIs while Will Danburg and Kellen Hansen would each pick up an RBI in the win.

Pierre will face Yankton at 10:30 on Saturday with the winner advancing to the semifinals on Sunday.

14U

After a loss on Thursday, Pierre still could win the pool by beating the two remaining teams, both in their pool. Post 8 would take the first step with an 11-1 five inning win on Friday. Porter Hunsley would throw the five inning complete game for Pierre as he allowed just one run on seven hits, one walk and seven strikeouts. Hunsley also went 2-3 at the plate with a double driving in two runs while Eli Anderson would finish 2-3 with three RBIs. Will Eilers also drove in three runs. Carter Templeton and Hudson Stoeser also had a double for Pierre.

Pierre must win Saturday morning against Harrisburg MAG to advance to the semifinals on Sunday. First pitch is at 9:30.

13U

Pierre will finish its tournament on Saturday after its 4-2 loss on Friday to Renner put them at 0-2 for the weekend.

Even with a win the Eights can’t win the pool, however they can win the final game of the year and end on a strong note.

Pierre tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second but Renner would score a run in the third, fourth and sixth innings to help go to 2-0 in the tournament. Jagger Gardner threw five innings allowing eight hits, three runs, two earned with two walks.

Pierre faces Huron at 2:30 on Saturday to finish out the 13U tournament in Brookings.
