Names Released In Fatal Jackson Count Crash

KADOKA — The South Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of those involved in a fatal crash in Jackson County last weekend. The crash happened Saturday night around 9:40 pm, 18 miles west of Kadoka on Interstate 90. The preliminary investigation shows a 2020 Hyundai Elantra was traveling west in the eastbound lane of the interstate and caused a head-on crash with a 2016 Chrysler Town and County mini-van. The Hyundai driver, 31 year-old Samuel Vining of Sioux Falls died in the crash. He was using a seat belt. Both occupants of the mini-van received serious, non-life threatening injuries. Driver, 24 year-old Isaac Thompson of Stevens Point, Wisconsin was transported to the Hans P, Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip. Passenger, 22 year-old Marha Wick of Gile, Wisconsin was transported to Monument Health in Rapid City. Thompson and Gile were both using seat belts. The crash forced the closure of I-90 at exit 131 for approximately two hours.
