Zap Can’t Hold on to Lead, Swept by Spuds, Eliminated from Postseason Contention

The Oahe Zap would fall 7-5 on Sunday and were swept by the Casper Spuds which also resulted in the team being eliminated from the postseason.

The loss is the eighth straight by the Zap, a second straight sweep and they are now 7.5 games back of the Spuds for first place with only six games remaining in the season.

Oahe would take a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as Trenton Duchscherer, Jacob Trusner and Preston Lau would all have an RBI and the Zap lead would hold until the fourth inning. Trevor Seagraves would score on a balk in the second to make it a 4-1 lead for Oahe. The Zap would take the lead back, but at the price of a twin killing as Tyler Traphagen would ground into a double play scoring a run. It would be the last run of the game for Oahe. Casper tied the game in the bottom of the sixth and then scored two runs in the seventh, one being unearned to claim their first lead and hold on in the ninth for the win.

Oahe will and Casper will resume their six straight games on Tuesday when the Spuds will come to Hyde Stadium. The final six games for the Zap will run Tuesday-Sunday, all at home. First pitch is at 6:35.
