PIERRE — Governor Kristi Noem has made permanent Chas Olson as Executive Director of the South Dakota Housing Authority. Olson as been serving as the agency’s interim director since April when Lorraine Polak left the position. Before his selection to run the Housing Authority Olson served as Director of Rental Housing Development and a Housing Development Officer. He first began at the Housing Authority in 2014. Olson is a Pierre native who graduated from T-F Riggs High School in 2002. He is a University of South Dakota graduate with a bachelor’s degree in finance. Olson also has a Housing Development Finance Professional Certification from the National Development Council. Noem says Olson has been proactive as interim executive director in reaching out to communities and working to roll out housing funding as soon as possible. She adds she is confident in Olson’s ability to cut red tape and streamline state government for South Dakotans
