Capital City Little League Shutout in First Round at State Tournament

The Rapid City Little League would be the Capital City Little League All-Stars 3-0 in the first round of the state tournament on Thursday in Sioux Falls.

Rapid City would waste no time in getting on the board as they would single and triple in the first two at bats before an RBI ground out made it a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Rapid City would add a run in the top of the third to extend the lead to 3-0. The Rapid City little leaguers would get nine hits overall as three pitchers combined for the win.

Pierre had just two hits in the loss as Lucius McCullough and Ben Martinec had the only hits spanning over the six innings. Jaylen Keyes, Martinec and McCullough would all pitch in the first game as now Pierre will have to work their way back from the losers bracket starting at 5:00 on Friday.

Sioux Falls beat Harney 6-2 so Pierre will face Harney at 5:00 and with a win will play at 12:00 on Saturday for a spot in the state championship.
